Psychological Services offers comprehensive
mental health services to the university community.
Specific counseling services offered through the
clinic include:
Individual Therapy
– Individual therapy can be helpful to address a
wide array of personal concerns. Although counseling
services within the clinic tend to be short-term
and goal oriented, individual treatment needs are
taken into account in personalizing the therapeutic
experience.
Couples Therapy
– Couples therapy can be helpful for married as
well as unmarried couples who are having interpersonal
difficulties and who would like to address communication
and relationship issues.
Group Therapy –
As an alternative to individual therapy, group therapy
can be helpful in resolving a variety of difficulties
and in improving interpersonal relationships. A
variety of treatment groups are periodically offered,
ranging from general support groups to groups that
focus on more specific issues such as self-esteem
or stress management.
Crisis Intervention Counseling
– The clinic provides crisis intervention on an
as needed basis when crises do arise.
Psychological Testing
– Psychological testing is often helpful in clarifying
diagnostic issues and facilitating the counseling
process. In addition to general testing, the clinic
offers specialized evaluations for attention deficit
disorder, substance use concerns, and eating disorders.
Consultation Services
– The clinic provides consultation for faculty,
staff, and students who need assistance in helping
students who may have emotional and/or behavioral
concerns. More specific information can be found
on the Referrals & Consultation page.
